The latest Annual Urban Mobility Report released by the Texas Transportation Institute clearly shows that Southern California has the worst traffic congestion in the nation. This has been our dubious distinction for many years as we have continued to significantly under invest in our transportation infrastructure. The result is worse congestion, damaged roads, and few transit options. Although California voters, by approving Propositions 1A and 1B in November 2006 sent a clear message that they want more done to fix our traffic problems, $1.3 billion was still taken away from transportation projects in this year's state budget. We need to stop this practice once and for all by letting our elected representatives know that we are watching what they do and demand that all transportation money be spent only for improving our roads and transit.
